August Development Report II


Hi! I carried out major work on the design of the location: added new trees, rocks and cliffs, as well as a lot of small vegetation. I also worked on optimization: using Dynamic Resolution, I managed to increase the average FPS value by 10-15 units without much loss of quality. Although on the other hand, the increased amount of vegetation makes itself felt in the form of an increased load on the staff. But by the time of writing this post, I managed to fix this problem + for owners of weaker PCs, an option was added that allows you to reduce the grass density and increase the frame rate.

By the way, September will be dedicated to polishing the shortcomings, as well as adding new content. A release... the release is scheduled for the end of September, so there is very little left :)


1. Environment:

  • Work has been done on the environment and landscape. The volume of grass has been increased, new trees and vegetation elements have been added;
  • Added wind effect on grass and trees;

2. Optimization:

  • A Low-Quality Render was pre-installed for all Graphics Quality levels, which allowed increasing FPS in exchange for a slight decrease in the graphics level (mostly affected only the quality of shadows);
  •  Added the Dynamic Resolution option: Which allows you to draw the image in a lower resolution than the resolution of the player's monitor with post-processing to minimize quality loss. There is also DLSS support for cardholders with RTX;
  • Added settings for adjusting the grass drawing distance and its density. Also, the grass density automatically changes depending on the preset of the Graphics Quality;
  • Work has been done on rendering the grass outside the camera. It turned out to reduce the load from the grass without a visible loss of density and quality;

3. Characters:

  • Added an emotion system for all the main characters (Alice, Shaartan, Yotra);
  • Added a blush effect on the characters in the act;
  • Added Alice's voice acting in the act;
  • The sharpness of the body animations in the dialog has been reduced. Also, Yotra now does not look away when playing the animation;
  • Added a change in the appearance of the main character in the Customization menu. The Dynamic Appearance option has also been added. This option disables changing the appearance of your character when changing Attributes. Enabled by default;


4. Misc:

  • Sound playback is returned when getting a level and starting a global quest;
