Aurora's Fog - Building System


Hey, guys! First of all, I want to wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and wish you all the best in the New Year! :) And also thank you for believing in the project and in me, as well as for supporting and not abandoning me. Thank you, it means a lot to me :)

And now some news from the fields of development. I've finished working on the building system. The main difficulty was not so much in the placing the items but in all sorts of little things like collision checks, and most importantly, saving it all to save file.

Building System

As you progress through the game, you will have access to purchase your own house. You will be able to arrange the interior of your home, which will allow you to store your items there, relax and even create your own items on the workbench and other craft stations;

  • Added the ability to buy a house as you progress through the game. The purchase price may be affected by your actions;
  • You can choose from several types of furniture;
  • The selected furniture can be freely rotated to the left (Q key), and to the right (R key);
  • Rotation has an additional function: by holding down the left Ctrl key, the rotation will be performed by 30 degrees for a more accurate placement of the object;
  • Placement verification has been implemented. It will not be possible to place one furniture object inside another, although there are small (logical) exceptions;
  • It is possible to place an object on an object (a box on a barrel...), although the function is not perfect;
  • Added saving/loading of all placed furniture;
  • Added a building hint when visiting the house for the first time;

Interactions

  • Rugs have been added. Rug can be placed under other furniture. They increase the "comfort" parameter of the player's home;
  • Added the ability to pick up furniture into inventory;
  • If there are items in when picking up furniture (chests, boxes...), then the picking will be impossible so as not to lose the items inside;
  • Candles, when placed on objects, will be "placed" on objects and react to interaction with the object;
  • When picking up furniture on which candles are placed, candles will be picked too;

Items

  • All furniture added as game items;
  • All furniture is added for sale from traders;
